To perform measurements of mean velocity, different types of Pitot tubes are available in the lab:
- straight (Kimo manufacture) data sheet;
- L- shaped (several dimensions);
The Pitot tube has to be connected to the differential pressure transducers (with analog output) through rubber tubing.
The pressure transducers available at the lab are listed below:
- 4 pcs of Sensirion pressure transducers SDP806/SDP816-125Pa unidirectional Note: The voltage output is ratiometric. data sheet
- more than 10 pcs of Mamac Systems pressure transducers model PR-274/275 VDC R6. It is possible to run it in both, unidirectional and bidirectional range. Different pressure ranges available. data sheet Technical sheet
- First sensor pressure transducers in the following pressure ranges and configurations data sheet :
5 pcs Unidirectional, 50Pa pressure range (LDES050UF6S);
0[Pa] — 0.5[V] output
50[Pa] — 4.5[V] output
[Pa]=12.5[V]-6.25
5 pcs Unidirectional, 100Pa pressure range (LDES0100UF6S);
5 pcs Bidirectional, +/- 50 Pa pressure range (LDES050BF6S).
In order to achieve accurate measurements, the air density has to be estimated before each measurement. The Matlab code to estimate the air density is attached. Air density calculation
The input needed are the temperature, the relative humidity and pressure. The temperature can be measured with a thermocouple (several thermocouples K-type are available). The pressure can be measured with a manometer or the automatic calibrator for hotwires, while the relative humidity can be measured with a hygrometer (Hygroclip 2, 3 pieces available) data sheet
